Standard Functions

HD2 Filter

The HD2 filter is made of polyethylene filter material with pores up to 70% finer than those of wool and polyamide filters, in order to capture even the finest dust particles. Furthermore, it is oil- and water-repellent, making it very easy to clean. The filter cartridge with its PET housing and quick-release fastener allows for quick and tool-free filter installation and removal.

Pressure Relief Valve

The pressure relief valve is part of the easy-start system. Pressing the valve before starting reduces the compression pressure at startup and decreases the effort required to pull the starter cord. The decompression valve is semi-automatic. You must press it manually before starting, but it closes automatically.

STIHL ElastoStart

STIHL ElastoStart reduces the jolts caused by engine compression during starting. The pressure shock; a spring or rubber element located in the starter handle prevents the user's joints and muscles from contracting.

Side chain tensioner

The tension bolt is located on the side of the chain, through the sprocket cover. This eliminates the need for direct contact with the chain.

Variable displacement oil pump

Tool-Free Filler Caps
Special closures on fuel and oil tanks for easy, tool-free opening and closing.

Anti-vibration system
Strong vibrations in the handles of power tools can have long-term effects on the blood vessels in the hands and arms. STIHL has therefore developed an effective damping system that reduces engine vibrations, thus significantly reducing vibrations at the handles.

Compensator
This regulator in the carburetor prevents the air-fuel mixture from becoming excessively rich if the air filter becomes clogged. Depending on the airflow through the filter, the correct amount of fuel is supplied to the carburetor. This maintains a constant air-fuel ratio in the combustion mixture, and therefore engine power. The filter only needs cleaning if there is a significant drop in performance.

Carburetor Heater (V)
When switching the saw from summer mode to winter mode, the intake air is preheated in the engine fins. This ensures the carburetor doesn't freeze and you can continue working in sub-zero temperatures.

Single Lever Main Control
All Important Functions For example, the starting, choke, and throttle functions are operated by a single lever. The stopping and starting functions are also controlled by a single lever.
